- The feeling of accomplishing something while reflecting on how one has gotten there is empowering. There were many detours and introspective moments of doubt, but the goal was reached nonetheless!
Tenacious Spirit starts triumphantly with the brass stating the theme on which the entire piece is founded. The fanfare is repeated by the full ensemble and the horns before settling into a broader, lyrical section where flugelhorn and low reeds take the spotlight. A waltz goes through unexpected twists and turns before growing into an exciting ending that’s reminiscent of an organist pulling out all of the stops and flourishing, hinting at excitement for what’s to come next!
